Overview
Veracruz is one of Mexico´s richest regions due to its stunning geographical blend: from beautiful beaches, to impressive volcanoes and mountain systems, to colossal rivers with world class white water, and, to make this even better, Totonacan archaeological sites. Starting at the lively port of Veracruz, best known for its delicious seafood and vivacious people, the trip will continue to the Totonacan archaeological site of Quiahuiztlán, "The Place of Rain," to finally settle at a beautiful Adventure Lodge situated in the middle of a coffee plantation and mango tree forest by the Antigua River. From here you´ll embark on some of the region´s best whitewater rafting, hiking up to a pre-Hispanic burial site, and flying through the mango treetops on a zip line. After this trip you´ll agree Veracruz is one of Mexico´s best kept secrets.

Day 3: Raft through Mango Plantations on the Antigua River
We'll raft the Antigua River, one of the best intermediate Class III whitewater rivers in Mexico, then take a short trek to the "Tirolesa" zip-line, a system of steel cables set on platforms between huge mango trees. You'll fly through the air, crossing the treetops like Tarzan.

Visit Coatepec and the surrounding hillsides known worldwide for their altitude coffee. We'll stop for an early lunch at "Tio Yeyo," a restaurant with a menu that has more than 20 unique ways to prepare trout, a staple in Veracruz. Transfer back to Jalcomulco, where we will trek Cinacatla Canyon to the town of Chopilapa.

Day 5: Rafting the Pescados River or Visit to the Xalapa Anthropology Museum
Two options today: Diehard rafters will want to try the Class III-IV Pescados River, which offers more than 30 fantastic rapids in a deep canyon.
