Overview
Explore the mountains of Central Mexico while horseback riding through deep-rooted oak and pine forests that surround a picturesque lake and the quaint "magical village" of Valle de Bravo. Witness how millions of Monarch Butterflies travel thousands of miles to winter here each year, brightening the landscape with black and orange. We will also visit Michoacán, where in the 1530´s Vasco de Quiroga, a Spanish Friar, left a legacy of service and development for the Purépecha indigenous communities, which still thrives today. We´ll embark on a steamy trek up the Paricutin, the youngest volcano in the world, and then visit the town of San Juan Parangaricutiro, which was engulfed by lava in 1943. Walk around the magnificent colonial towns of Pátzcuaro and Morelia; seduce your palate with this region´s unique gastronomy and dance away to the Pirekua tune. This trip is a feast of colors, culture and adventure.

Itinerary
Day 1: Hacienda Enye
Arrival to Toluca international airport and transfer to the "Magical Town" of Valle de Bravo, only one hour and a half away from Toluca. Get settled at the beautiful Hacienda Enyhe, where your hosts Lucía and Pepe will make you feel at home. After lunch, enjoy the evening on your own at the hotel and its pool. We will also spend time becoming familiar with the horses and the different styles of tack available. Later, you can set off to visit the beautiful and friendly town of Valle de Bravo while we prepare for dinner at the Hacienda´s cozy dining room. L, D. Hacienda Enye

Day 2: Hacienda Enye
Early breakfast at 7:30am before our first horseback ride (3 to 5 hours) through meadows, valleys, forests, and streams on a winding system of trails, paths and old "Caminos Reales". You´ll enjoy a picnic l in the middle of the countryside and at 4pm you´ll be transferred back to the Hacienda. Today´s afternoon is on your own- Visit the Colonial Town of Valle de Bravo, its Handicrafts Market, charming stores, taste the delicious local ice-cream and later return to the Hacienda to enjoy a tasty Dinner. Day 3: Hacienda Enye
Breakfast at 7:30 and at 8:30 the riders are transferred by car to Los Saucos where the horses spent the night. Resume the horseback ride to the Monarch Sanctuary. Picnic lunch in the middle of the countryside and later transfer to the Hacienda (at around 3pm.) In the evening we´ll enjoy a beautiful trek through the surrounding forest with a bird expert who will show you the amazing variety of species living in this area, which due to its topography and climate makes this place a sub-tropical high altitude birders' paradise. If riding and trekking is taking it´s toll, you can spend the rest of the afternoon in the Jacuzzi or at the pool. Enjoy the evening in town on your own. B,L. Hacienda Enye .

Day 4: Hacienda Enye
Breakfast at 7:30am and transfer to our departure point for the third day of riding-today we will reach the majestic Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. You´ll be able to experience first hand this unique spectacle of nature. Enjoy a trailside picnic and ride back to the Hacienda for a hearty and well deserved farewell dinner. B,L,D Hacienda Enye.

Day 5: Mansión Cupatitzio
Breakfast and transfer to the State of Michoacán, the land of the Purepecha people.  Lunch on the road.  Arrival to Uruapan, another “Magical village”, where Franciscan friars settled, christianizing the local population around 1533.  Your hotel, Mansión Cupatitzio, it´s a beautiful colonial building located just across the National Park Eduardo Ruiz, which is also the gateway to the Paricutin Volcano.  Dinner tonight is on your own so you can enjoy the town.

Day 6: Mansión Cupatitzio
Breakfast and trek to the Paricutín Volcano (reach the Summit,) and visit the Town of San Juan Parangaricutiro covered by the volcano´s lava. Picnic and return to the Hotel- free afternoon to spend at the pool. 
Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7: Hacienda Ucazanaztacua
En route to Pátzcuaro visit Santa Clara del Cobre, where for hundreds of years families of artisans have hammered the copper creating the beautiful and unique handicrafts. Continue to the gorgeous colonial town of Patzcuaro and lunch by the lake. At sunset climb the Estribo Hill to enjoy a magnificent view of the Lake while you enjoy a delicious leche quemada ice-cream. Transfer to Tzintzuntzan to your magnificent Hotel Hacienda Ucazanaztacua. Dinner at the Hacienda.

Day 8: Cantera Diez
Breakfast and visit Tzintzuntzan and the archaeological site of las Yácatas, one of the most important ceremonial centers and the last capital of the Purépecha Empire. Stop by the Franciscan Ex-Convent and continue to Santa Fe de la Laguna. Transfer to the city of Morelia. Founded in 1541 Morelia today still boasts the splendor of its glorious colonial past, which earned it the title of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Check in at the hotel and afternoon walk around the city and dinner in town on your own.

Day 9: Cantera Diez
Take a plunge into the heart of Morelia, and let the time fly go back while the beautiful colonial old houses, churches, ex-convents and old food and candy markets. Lunch at the San Miguelito restaurant, where you can taste a fruit gazpacho, a traditional dish of the Michoacan cuisine. Spend the afternoon taking another promenade around the city. Farewell dinner in town.

Day 10: B, Snack
Breakfast and transfer to the Toluca International Airport
